As you ascend toward the mountain, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the iconic peak, making the journey as memorable as the destination. Mt Hood Village with hot tubs

Traveling from Mt. Hood Village to Mt. Hood is a short and scenic 20-minute drive covering roughly 12 miles along Highway 26. The route is surrounded by towering evergreens and mountain vistas, with light traffic during weekdays but heavier flow on weekends and holidays, especially during ski season. This quick journey offers a smooth ascent to the mountain, making it an easy and enjoyable trip to access Mt. Hood’s trails, slopes, and breathtaking views. Government Camp with hot tubs

Traveling from Government Camp to Mt. Hood is a quick 10-minute drive spanning about 6 miles along Highway 26 and Timberline Road. As a hub for winter sports and mountain activities, traffic can be busier during peak ski season, weekends, and holidays but is typically light during weekdays. The short drive offers spectacular views of the mountain and easy access to Timberline Lodge, hiking trails, and skiing areas. You can also travel to the mountain from here using the Mt Hood Express! You can also hitch a ride to Government Camp via the Hoodland Shuttle CO.


Traveling from Portland International Airport (PDX) to Government Camp typically takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes by car, covering approximately 51 miles via U.S. Route 26 eastbound. Alternatively, the Central Oregon Breeze bus service offers direct routes from PDX to Government Camp six times a week, with a similar travel time of about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Hood River

Traveling from Hood River to Mt. Hood takes about 45 minutes, covering approximately 35 miles via the scenic Highway 35. The drive winds through picturesque orchards, forests, and mountain vistas, offering stunning views of the iconic peak along the way. Traffic is generally light, but it can increase during summer weekends and winter ski season, particularly near popular trailheads and snow parks. Traveling from Portland International Airport (PDX) to Hood River takes approximately 1 hour and 5 minutes by car, covering around 62 miles via Interstate 84 eastbound. Alternatively, public transportation options, such as Columbia Area Transit, provide bus service from PDX to Hood River, with a slightly longer travel time. You can also hitch a ride to Hood River via the Hoodland Shuttle CO.
