Best Time of Year to Elope at Mount Rainier

🌸 Spring (May–June): Melting snow means some roads remain closed, but low crowds and early blooms make for a quiet experience.

☀️ Summer (July–September): All areas are fully open, wildflowers peak in July, but crowds are at their highest.

🍂 Fall (October): Fewer visitors, golden hues, but first snowfall may close higher-elevation roads.

HOW TO APPLY FOR A MARRIAGE LICENSE IN WASHINGTON

As Mount Rainier is located in Washington State, a marriage license is required to get married here. According to state law, you must apply for a marriage license at least 3 days before your elopement. Remember, you can only apply for a license within 60 days of your elopement date.

If you reside in Washington, you can obtain one from any local office. This also applies to anyone traveling and arriving at least 3 days prior to your elopement date.

If you are from out of state and you don’t have enough time to arrive early and wait, the BEST WAY IS TO APPLY ONLINE AND HAVE IT MAILED TO YOU. For more information on your marriage license, CLICK HERE.

How many witnesses do we need? Maybe an Officiant?

To legalize your Mt Rainier elopement, you must have an officiant and two witnesses. It's wonderful if family and/or friends can join you. If not, that's perfectly fine. We often serve as one of the witnesses for our couples. I am also ordained and can legally marry you!
